Hello!

A quick note to say that I'm currently involved in meetings with publishers with the distinct possibility of printing Philip & The Stove. It's proved to be an interesting process but it looks like the book will be published as I originally intended it to be (without any text). For now I've taken down chapters 1-4. If/When published the book will contain chapter 5 which is 10 pages short of completion.

Even if I self publish the book next year I will add all details here on this blog. Thanks for visiting!

  1. Apologies to anyone who left a comment previously.

For some strange reason I can't create any new posts here- the only way to carry on is in the form of one large post like this.

  3. Hello Bill- I would hope it could be printed one day in a small simple format-we will have to see if it's worthy!

  6. Sorry Josef- that must be annoying. I think it makes more sense posted this way (which isn't upside down I believe)

    Sorry

  8. Good Chapter 4. At first, I thought that the waunderer came out of the cave into winter, since everything was so blue ... but the sunrise soon corrected my error.
I loved the large tree. It seemed to have a face and I was almost expecting it to talk or act (à la Lord of the Rings). Finally, the bull's eye landscape creates a strong sense of foreboding. I can't wait for the next scenes.
Great work. I'd love to see this in print!

  9. My boys and I have been "secretly" following this story for a while -- I love your perspective. So inspiring! Can't wait to see what comes next.

  10. Michael- Thanks for the reaction. There's a gap in the story at the end that deals with the seasons, if it feels right to go in then it will. The fact that it's currently set in high summer is integral to the story. Thanks for your comment!

Deanna - I like secret followers and wonder aloud who actually visits, it's half the fun. I'm so pleased your boys (children I assume?!) are following, I hope to make a story that I would've enjoyed whilst growing up.

  24. I've decided to break my silence and shed the skin of the observer/non-commenter for a second. AMAZING! Great work man!

  26. Magical, original, I love this story. Shades of shaggy, friendly, tale-spinning men who drifted through my childhood :)

  27. Is the story over, or are you going to publish the end anytime soon?
I have to say I found the story much stronger without words. In my opinion the text pannels are redundant: They don't add anything to the story, everything is already in the images! So they mainly slow down the process of reading...

  28. Thanks Josef- it's a format we're trying (with some text). I agree with you, I'm not sure about the words and ideally would like it printed without text.

We're trying a few publishers so for the moment I'm not posting the final chapter online. But if I can't get it printed then I may show the final chapter here. There's another 20 odd pages.

  32. The music of your video is too modern for my taste...For what age group is that music?

    ReplyDelete
  33. The music is for the age group 99-103. Do you think I should refine it a bit more?

In 34 years you will love it!

  34. hi! love the story, i´ve been following it for a while =)

if i may say tough, i liked the previous mute quality of the story. The images are so strong... no words required. It adds to the mistery and its so fun to try and figure out what´s going on.

anyways, great job! curious about the end =)
